A stunning, antique, early 20th century, fully hallmarked 9ct gold, horseshoe bar brooch. The body of the brooch is fashioned from 9ct gold, with a central horseshoe set with green, reddy purple and white paste tones, with raised ribbon detailing to each side, with finely worked gold beading to the edges. The back of the brooch is set with a glazed hair panel, and is fully hallmarked for 9ct gold, 1908 - 09, Birmingham, with the makers mark WNC. The brooch is fastened with a C clasp. A lovely antique, early 20th century 9ct horseshoe bar brooch. ( This brooch is set with green, reddy purple and white paste stones which were the colours recognized in 1908 of the suffragette movement, however this was a common colour combination of the time, so its difficult to say this was a suffragette brooch, but the colours are there. )
