A unusual vintage brooch based on a roman plate design from the 4th century by Miracle, a designer jewellery brand of A Hill and company Ltd. The brooch design is a replica of a silver plate found, in the treasure hoard at Mildenhall, Surrey. It features a Bacchic scene with maenads and Pan. ( The hoard is currently held by the British Museum ). The brooch is formed from darkened brass tone metal. This brooch is an early Miracle design, and is Signed a Miracle Creation to its back, which has a lovely hand hammered look. Circa 1950's.
