A vintage marcasite set brutalist style brooch by Sphinx. The brooch is formed from silver tone polished and textured metal, with two straight geometric lines set with marcasites above a open work brutalist style ' V ' shape set with additional marcasites . The brooch is signed 6303 Sphinx to the back. Circa 1960's - 70's.
Sphinx jewellery is a collectable vintage British UK Jewellery brand. The company was started in the late 1940′s by S Root and was based in Chiswick, London. They were known for their well made, statement costume jewellery pieces , producing a wide spectrum of styles and designs.
