A stunning, large, oval shaped brooch, with art glass cabochon, made with a faux agate look, in marbled caramel brown tones, centrally set in gold tone metal. The gold tone edging has a lovely rope design. The brooch is signed Sphinx 9249A to the back. Circa 1970's - 80's.
Sphinx jewellery is a collectable vintage British UK Jewellery brand. The company was started in the late 1940′s by S Root and was based in Chiswick, London. They were known for their well made, statement costume jewellery pieces , producing a wide spectrum of styles and designs.
