Vintage Royal Copenhagen Hans Christian Andersen ' The Ugly Duckling ' fairy tale plate. Part of a series of twelve plates to commemorate the stories of Hans Christian Andersen ( 1805 - 1875 ) To the center of the plate has an illustration inspired by the tale of ' The Ugly Duckling ' by illustrator Pauline Ellison, this is edged by a thin gold band. To the edge of the plate is a gold band set with flowers, leaves, butterflies, swans with a thin gold band either side. The plate measures approx 7.5cm in diameter. To the back of the plate is the Royal Copenhagen motif with blue wavy lines beneath, numbered 9628. Beneath which is stamped Private Commission, The Hans Christian Andersen Plates, The Ugly Duckling, beneath which is a copyright symbol 1975 Pauline Ellison.
